Aragon-Menzel, Red-Hot Tigers Torch Texas Lutheran

The No. 1-ranked Colorado College volleyball team posted a season-high .386 team hitting percentage on Saturday during a 25-15, 25-12, 25-10 victory over Texas Lutheran University that lasted just 60 minutes.

Senior setter Isabelle Aragon-Menzel dished out 33 assists while directing the attack to a .300 or better performance for the fifth time this season. The Tigers are now hitting .258 as a team.

Georgia Mullins led CC with a match-high 13 kills on 17 attacks for a season-best .765 hitting percentage. Mullins, who did not have a hitting error for the fourth time this season, raised her season percentage to a blistering .398, which would rank second on the program's single-season list. The junior middle hitter also had a hand in five blocked shots.

Isabella Vasquez hit a season-best .583 with seven kills on an error-free 12 attempts, while Isabella Lipacis hit .467 with 10 kills on 15 swings with only three misfires.

Colorado College was every bit as effective on the defensive side of the net, holding the Bulldogs to a collective .011 hitting percentage. It was the fifth time this season an opponent hit below .100 against the Tigers.

"No one was happy with how we played as a team on Friday night," head coach Rick Swan said. "The coaches challenged everyone to play their best today and I really like the way our players responded. We set the tone for the match during the first set and carried the momentum all the way through to the end."

TLU had a brief lead early in the first set at 3-2, but CC answered with a 10-5 run that forced the Bulldogs to burn a timeout. After a Madison Weisinger kill cut the Bulldog deficit to 12-9, the Tigers went on a 7-2 surge that ended with Mullins kills for three of the last four points.

The momentum carried through the final two sets to give the Colorado College its eighth sweep in ten matches.
