Second half TIgers comeback gives SU 2-1 loss

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Temperatures weren't the only thing on the rise in Sunday's SCAC contest between Colorado College and Southwestern on the pitch. A hotly-contested, physical match went the way of the Tigers as CC took advantage of every opportunity presented them.

Southwestern was the first on the board and the only goal of the first half. Tanner Irons' diving header off Mason Tomasak's low, driving corner kick gave SU extra confidence to start the second half as they better dictated the pace of play and remained dangerous offensively.

A Southwestern foul in the box awarded Colorado College a penalty kick with 14 minutes remaining in the match and tied the contest.

A straight red card to Southwestern with ten and a half minutes left put the Pirates down a man for the remainder of the game and opened the door for Colorado College to score the game winner.

The Pirates (7-8, 6-5) face an even tougher challenge next as they host league-leading, undefeated #1 Trinity on Friday at 5 pm.
