
Ladies Fall 4-0 To St. Thomas In Season Finale
The Centenary women's soccer team fell x-0 on Friday evening to the University of St. Thomas Celts in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest and its final match of the 2023 season on Friday evening at Mayo Field.
Shreveport - The Centenary women's soccer team fell 4-0 on Friday evening to the University of St. Thomas Celts in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest and its final match of the 2023 season on Friday evening at Mayo Field.
The Ladies finish their season at 1-12-3 and 0-6-1 SCAC while the Celts improved to 3-4-5 and 2-3-2 in SCAC play. Centenary finished 1-4-2 at home this season with a win over Belhaven and ties with Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps.
The Celts scored three times in the first half on Friday and once after halftime to cruise to the shutout win. St. Thomas finished with a decisive advantage in shots, 23-6, and took seven corner kicks to Centenary's one.
Emma Cerda found the net in the 14th minute off an assist from Grace Carmichael for a 1-0 lead and Cerda then assisted Mary-Ilyse Lehmann at the 16:20 mark for a 2-0 lead. Paola Colon scored in the 30th minute with Kayla Tomlinson assisting, and Carmichael scored the final goal, an unassisted score in the 76th minute, for a 4-0 lead.
Centenary junior GK Madison Ersoff (Shreveport, La.) made seven saves and played all 90 minutes while the Celts played a pair of goalkeepers as Kylie Soich started and got the win as she went the first 83:16 and made two saves and was relieved by Anna Capp who played the final 6:44.
Seven Ladies in addition to Ersoff went the distance in the match and 10 players played 75+ minutes. The Celts used 22 players and none went the full 90 minutes.
