
GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern posted an easy 3-0 win over Hardin-Simmons, holding the Cowgirls to a negative attack percentage in the match.
Southwestern never lost control in the first set, starting with a steady pace that continued throughout the set. SU took set one 25-18 and hitting .281 as a team in the first set.
The Pirates opened the second set on a 4-0 run and pushed on to a 10-3 lead. Southwestern's domination continued as they pressed on to an easy 25-11 win.
Hardin-Simmons entered set three with a renewed vigor, but once the Pirates were in the groove there was not stopping them as the cruised to win 25-14.
The Pirates hit .277 as a team and held HSU to a -.027 attack percentage. Kaitlyn Foster led all hitters with 13 kills. Nikki Welch posted 27 assists and Kaitlyn Corbett 15 digs in the win.
Southwestern improves to 14-7 overall while Hardin-Simmons falls to 5-8. The Pirates return to SCAC conference action next week, opening with Trinity on the 10th at 6 p.m.
