Softball completed its two-game series with the University of Houston Victoria this Tuesday afternoon. After dropping game one to the visiting Jaguars, the Celts responded and took game two convincingly 8-1.

Game 1: UST 5 UHV 9

The visiting Jaguars made their presence known after two walks and a quick single made the score 1-0. They followed it up with a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0. The Celts finally responded in the second inning after a Delayne Moreno single brought home Isabel Charles to cut the deficit in half 2-1. However, the Celts were still playing from behind as the Jaguars only added to their lead. With the score 6-2 by the fifth inning, St. Thomas tried to inch themselves closer with three runs scored. Yet, it wasnt enough as Houston-Victoria added three runs of insurance to secure the 9-5 victory. 

Game 2: UST 8 UHV 1

The Celt offense exploded for a combined 11 hits this game from eight different players. This began in the first inning as St. Thomas immediately made the score 1-0. Then a third-inning rally kickstarted by a Rebecca Archibald single led to two more runs on three hits. Then, with the score already 5-0, St. Thomas only added to their lead after a Jaelyn Simmons double brought home Mallarie Munson. The Jaguars tried to start a rally in the sixth inning, however stellar pitching from Bailey Tisdale limited them to just one run. Finally, in the sixth Chloe Bennett had a 2 RBI double to lock in the 8-1 victory.

Bailey Tisdale had a great day in the circle for the Celts. Tisdale went the distance in game two allowing just one run on four hits. She also notched six strikeouts in just her third game as a Celt. Freshman Rebecca Archibald led all hitters going a perfect 1.000 avg on the day with four singles and four runs. Once on base, she also stole two bases, and drew a walk.
