Huge Second Half Propels LeTourneau to 101-80 Win over Centenary

Five YellowJackets scored in double figures as they poured in 60 points in the second half to down the Gentlemen of Centenary College (Louisiana). It was an unselfish effort for LeTourneau with 26 of 36 field goals coming off an assist.

"We knew it would take a 40-minute effort coming into this game as Centenary is a very good veteran team," said head coach Dan Miller. "The guys did a great job of making the extra pass and finding the right guys on offense. Very proud of the way we finished our possessions the second half."

Nate West dropped 15 of his career-high 22 points after the break to lead LeTourneau. The freshman guard was 6-of-10 from behind the arc.

Joining West in double figures was Caleb Loggins with 17 points, the sophomore forward dominated in the paint as he scored on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Loggins also recorded three blocks for the YellowJackets.

Jeff Martin and Christian Seidl each added 16. Martin recorded a double-double as he racked up 11 assists. This is the fifth career double-double performance for the senior guard who had no turnovers in the game. The Seven Lakes High School product finished fourth in the NCAA last year with a 3.73 assist-to-turnover ratio. Seidl was one rebound away from a double-double of his own as he pulled down nine boards including four offensive rebounds.

Alec Colhoff was the fifth YellowJacket in double figures as he scored 13 points. Colhoff was 3-of-6 from behind the arc.

The Gents got off a quick start going up 6-0 early in the game. A barrage of 3-point field goals from Sam Talbert and Alec Colhoff tied the game at 11. Neither team led by more than four points and there were 13 lead changes in the first half. Caleb Loggins scored as time expired to take a 41-40 lead into the break.

The second half was more of the same until the 6:15 mark when Nate West began a 10-2 run to take an eight-point lead. The YellowJackets would follow that with a 17-6 run punctuated by a Christian Seidl behind the back pass to a streaking Caleb Loggins to stretch the lead to 16 (92-76).

Centenary had two-twenty point scorers in James Sapp (23) and Travion Kirkendoll (21). The Gents fell to 2-2 with the loss.

"We did our best to contain Sapp and Kirkendall but they are very skilled offensive players," said Miller. "We need to keep working on our defensive execution but I am very proud of the effort tonight."

The YellowJackets will return to Solheim Arena on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. match up with Rust College. LeTourneau will then hit the road to tip-off conference play as they take on Howard Payne at 7 p.m. in Brownwood.
