Men's Soccer Draws With Southwestern

The University of St. Thomas Men's soccer team drew a tough game in tonight's non-conference match against the Southwestern University Pirates 1-1 at Houston Sports Park.

The Celts' lone goal came in the 18th minute when #10 Daniel Castro put away a loose ball in the penalty area after #11 Ian Alvarez's penalty kick hit the post. To attest to this physicality of the hardfought game, the overall fouls of the match tallied up to a high of 30.

The Celts' defense held the shutout for quite some time, until the 60th minute where the Pirates were awarded a penalty kick and they converted this to tie the game. The Celts were also awarded another penalty kick but Pirates' goalkeeper Jack Viles made a save of the match.

Overall, the Celts' maintained most of the possession throughout the match but could not come out with the win.
