Acosta Nets 29 as Tigers Fall at George Fox

Sophomore guard Aaron Acosta poured in a career-high 29 points, but George Fox University held on for an 87-82 victory over Colorado College in a non-conference men's basketball game on Friday night.

Acosta connected on eight of 18 shots from the floor, including four of 10 from behind the arc, while producing his third career game with 20 or more points. He also led the Tigers with seven rebounds.

CooXooEii Black was nearly perfect from the floor during his 19-point performance. The senior forward sank nine of 10 shots.

CC trailed 68-58 after Wesley Reynolds scored on layup with 8:52 to play, but the Tigers scored 12 consecutive points to take their first lead since late in the first half.

After Eric Jonas tied the game at 71-71 on a free throw with 5:06 to play, Jackson Januik scored five of his team-leading 22 points to put the Bruins back in front.

Colorado College pulled to within a point three times inside the final three minutes, but George Fox went 7-for-7 from the free throw line to close out the victory.    

The Bruins also connected on nine of 25 shots from three-point range and outscored the Tigers, 27-18, from behind the arc.

Next for the Tigers
Colorado College wraps up its two-game visit to Oregon at Lewis & Clark College on Saturday at 6 p.m. PT.
