'Roo Men Topple Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team secured a berth in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference on Sunday, knocking off Trinity 2-0 in the team's final game of the regular season. The 'Roos head into the conference tournament with a record of 6-10-1 overall and 3-5 in SCAC play.

Austin College got on the board in the 18th minute thanks to a penalty kick by Ahmet Ramovic, and the score remained 1-0 into the second half. Trinity held a 15-to-4 advantage in shot attempts in the opening period, but the 'Roo defense and goalkeeper Juan Rodriguez managed to keep the Tigers off the board. Rodriguez would finish the game with 12 saves en route to earning the clean sheet.

The 'Roos held their one-goal edge deep into the second half until Cesar Escobar tallied to double the margin in the 88th minute, sealing the game for Austin College. The win is the third straight for the 'Roos, who now enter the SCAC Tournament as the No. 5-seed.
