Dixon ties career coaching wins mark at Texas Lutheran as Bulldogs down Colorado College

SEGUIN, Texas -- Mel Dixon tied Lana Urbanek for the all-time wins lead in Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball history as the Bulldogs collected a 73-67 home win Saturday over Colorado College.
 
The Bulldogs' victory gave Dixon his 121st win in this his eighth season as head coach at TLU. Dixon is 121-91, with a pair of conference titles and two NCAA tournament appearances on his resume.
 
TLU improved to 11-14 overall and to 9-9 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Colorado College dropped to 14-11 overall and to 10-8 in the SCAC.
 
The Bulldogs will be the fifth seed in the next weekend's SCAC Championship in Kerrville, Texas. TLU, the defending conference champion, will face tournament host and No. 4 seed Schreiner on Friday in the tournament quarterfinal.
 
Dixon's post players Morgan Rodriguez and Abby Hroch propelled the Bulldogs to victory Saturday. Rodriguez and Hroch combined for 34 of TLU's 73 points.
 
Rodriguez scored 20 and pulled down eight rebounds. Hroch added 14 points and nine rebounds.
 
Senior Cami Davis, playing her final home game in Memorial Gymnasium, chipped in 12 points and five rebounds. Senior guard Tara Molina distributed nine assists and added five rebounds, six points, and four steals.
 
Seniors Kasey Hairell and Dominique Campos each scored nine in their final home contests.
