Men's Golf Finishes Second at 2024 SCAC Championships

LAKE WHITNEY, Texas – Trinity's men's golf team wrapped up the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in second place, following Tuesday's final round of action at the White Bluff Golf Resort.

The Tigers finished second behind this year's conference champion, Schreiner University, which finished with a three-day total of 907 for the tournament. Trinity shot a combined 925 for the tournament, edging out third place University of St. Thomas by one shot. Centenary College was fourth, followed by Texas Lutheran University in fifth, the University of Dallas in sixth, and Southwestern University in seventh.

Jacob Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) led Trinity by finishing in second place individually, shooting a three-day total of 221 (74-67-80) to finish at +5 for the week. He finished in a tie for first among all players with 11 birdies and also tied for first in Par 3 scoring in the tournament. Mason was named All-SCAC for the third time in his career with that result, though it marks his first time as a First Team selection by finishing in the top five.

Aiden Marlow (San Antonio, Texas / Churchill) shot a team-best 78 on Tuesday, earning himself an 11th-place finish that was just outside of the All-SCAC threshold (top 10) with a total of 231 (76-77-78) for the three-round event. He was one of just three players at the tournament to card an eagle this week, scoring a three on the par-5 11th in today's round. Marlow was also second on the team with seven birdies for the week.

Grant Clark (College Grove, Tenn. / Page) finished in a tie for 15th at the tournament, tallying a score of 235 (79-76-80) over 54 holes. Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) was 22nd with a score of 238 (75-83-80), while Carter Code (Calgary, Canada / Manning) was tied for 27th after shooting 246 (80-84-82). Clark led Trinity, and was tied for sixth in the field, with 32 pars over the course of the week. Sandhu trailed his teammate by just one with 31 pars, and Code finished with six birdies for the competition.
