Centenary is now 3-0 at home this season after a pair of wins last weekend over Ozarks and Huntington and the Maroon and White are now an impressive 14-4-3 in their last 21 home matches. The Gents have also allowed one goal or less in eight-consecutive matches dating back to last season.

The Gents struck first on Friday as sophomore F Leo Wallaert (Lille, France) found the net for his first career goal off an assist from his fellow countryman, junior F Tom Becuwe (Hazebrock, France) fed a beautiful pass to Wallaert and a 1-0 Centenary lead. The Gents took that lead into halftime and it remained a 1-0 advantage until the 56th minute when Brady Jacobs was fouled inside the box and converted on a penalty kick to tie the match.

Ten minutes later it was the Gents' turn at a PK after sophomore D Rene Escobar (Cypress, Texas) was fouled and fired the ball into the net past Belhaven GK Max Rudolph for the score and a 2-1 Centenary lead. The stingy Centenary defense made the lead hold for the remainder of the match as the Gents extended their winning streak to three and improved to 7-0-3 in their last 10 home matches.

Centenary senior GK Patrick Riley (Baton Rouge, La.) started and played all 90 minutes and made two saves. Rudolph played the entire match as well and allowed the two goals and made four saves. Centenary wound up with a 12-10 edge in shots and took five corner kicks to two for the Blazers. The teams combined for 25 fouls and eight yellow cards were issued in the physical match.

Friday's win capped off a memorable evening as the 2020-21 SCAC Men's Championship team was recognized at halftime of the women's match prior to the men's match. The largest crowd all season was on hand to witnes the team receive their championship rings and be honored and applauded on the field once again.
