Box Score 2 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The St. Catherine volleyball team recorded a pair of losses in the Colorado College Triangular on Friday evening facing Linfield University and Colorado College. The Wildcats opened the day with a match against the Linfield University Wildcats from Oregon falling 3-1. Following the match with Linfield, the Wildcats faced the No. 2 ranked team Colorado College Tigers falling again 3-1.
The first match of the day was back and forth between both teams before Linfield took the first set from St. Kate's 25-21. The Wildcats' cruised through the second set evening the match 1-1 with a score of 25-16 forcing 12 errors from Linfield. The final two sets of the match went in favor of Linfield but not without a fight from the St. Kate's. In set three, the Wildcats' traded the lead with Linfield running away with the set 25-21. Lauren Isaacson recorded a team best eight kills in the first match along with 12 digs while senior
Julia Weiler tallied a career and match-best 18 digs.
The Wildcats played No. 2 Colorado College in their second match of the day falling 3-1. In the first set, the Tigers dominated St. Kate's with a score of 25-9. The Wildcats rallied back in the second set falling by 3 with a score of 25-22 and took the third set from the Tigers 25-20. Colorado College came back in the fourth set 25-21 to win the match. Maggie Rosen led St. Kate's with 10 kills and two digs followed by junior
Lauren Skar hitting .350 with nine kills, two digs, and two blocks.
Marissa Gilbertson had a team best 13 digs plus two assists ahead of Isaacson totaled six digs and seven kills.
St. Kate's will face the Wildcats and Tigers again on Saturday at 10 am MST at 12 pm MST in Colorado Springs.
