Late rally lifts Tigers past Dallas

Box Score Colorado College overcame a four-point deficit during the final 24 seconds to record a 63-61 victory at the University of Dallas on Saturday night.

After Kym Malone sank a pair of free throws to give the Crusaders a 61-57 lead, a layup by junior point guard Ryan Milne seven seconds later cut CC's deficit to two points. Then Milne went coast-to-coast to tie the game with nine ticks to go after a missed free throw by Ross Davidson.

Milne was unable to complete the three-point play, but sophomore forward Chris Lesnansky grabbed the offensive rebound and buried a pair of free throws with seven seconds to go.

Lesnansky finished with a game-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds. Milne added 14 points and dished out three assists, while senior forward Ian Rewoldt snared a game-high seven rebounds and added seven points.

The Crusaders appeared to be in complete control when Tanner Bruffey put his team ahead 52-40 with 9:09 remaining in the contest. Coming from behind, however, is nothing new for the Tigers.

Lesnansky and Milne scored eight points apiece during a 21-9 run that helped Colorado College tie the game with nine seconds remaining.

Bruffey poured in a game-high 30 points to pace UD.

The Tigers improved to 8-7 overall and tied Trinity University for first place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 5-1 record.

UD slipped to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

The Crusaders visit Colorado Springs on Saturday, Feb. 2.

Colorado College's six-game road stretch continues next week at Centenary College and Austin College on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
