Trinity collects 87-79 home conference win over Texas Lutheran

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs dropped their second straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game as the Trinity Tigers collected an 87-79 home win Friday night on the Trinity University campus.
 
Trinity improved to 7-9 overall and 5-4 in the SCAC.
 
TLU fell to 10-7 overall and 7-3 in the SCAC.
 
Trinity hit 9-of-17 (52.9 percent) of its shots from the three-point line and shot 55.6 percent for the game.
 
The Tigers led 51-46 at the break after shooting 63.6 percent (7-for-11) from the arc and 63.6 percent from the field (21-for-33).
 
The Bulldogs trailed by as many as 17 in the first half but closed the first half with a 22-10 run.
 
The Trinity lead grew to 13 with 4:54 remaining in the game, but TLU cut the lead down to seven at the 1:51 mark after a three-pointer from Sebastian Andrade.

Ben Hanley converted a layup with 1:35 remaining to push the Tigers' lead back to nine, 82-73.
 
A TLU turnover and transition layup from Trinity's Stephen Molina jumped the Tigers' advantage to 84-73 with 73 seconds to play.

A Trinity foul, two made free throws from TLU's Trystin Silas, and an Andrade three-pointer brought TLU back within seven with 42 seconds on the clock.
 
The Tigers took care of the ball and made 3-of-4 free throws in the final minute to secure the conference victory. 
 
Hanley led the Tigers with 18 points. Luke Stuart added 16.
 
Andrade paced the Bulldogs with 18 points. He also had seven rebounds and five assists.
 
Caleb Lister contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Jorden Kite chipped in 15 points and six rebounds.
 
All five TLU starters scored in double figures. Jamir Mason scored 11 and had six rebounds, and Trystin Silas put up 13 points and five rebounds.
 
TLU was out-scored in bench scoring 26-6 and for points in the paint 38-24. The Bulldogs had a 16-2 edge in second-chance points.
 
Trinity held the lead in the game for 37 minutes, 30 seconds.
 
The Bulldogs head to Kerrville, Texas on Saturday for a conference match-up with the Schreiner Mountaineers. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at Schreiner University.
