Colorado College missed out on an opportunity to secure the fifth seed in the upcoming Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship with a 72-52 loss at sixth-place Centenary College on Friday night.

McKenzee Gertz scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Tigers, but played only 26 minutes after being called for a pair of fouls in the first quarter.

The sophomore winger, who went 5-for-6 from behind the arc, also grabbed seven rebounds and had four steals.

Gertz hit all three of her long-range shots during the first quarter to help CC build a 16-3 lead, but the Ladies capitalized on not having to contend with the Tiger's scoring and rebounding leader, and took a five-point cushion into the break.

Colorado College was unable to re-gain its stride in the third quarter and watched as Centenary stretched its advantage to 18 points with 1:02 remaining in the frame.

The Tigers were within 63-50 after Nia Duplain hit a jumper midway through the fourth quarter, but the Ladies hit nine of 10 free throws during the final 3:40 to seal the victory.

For the game, CC went 5-for-6 at the charity stripe.

Despite picking up her fourth foul 41 seconds into the final frame, Duplain finished with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Jasmine Morris sank of seven of eight free throws and led Centenary with 15 points.

Haylee Washington scored 13 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for the Ladies, who improved to 7-15 overall and 5-8 in conference play.

Colorado College, which slipped to 10-12 overall and 7-7 in the SCAC, plays at tri-leader Austin College at 5:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Sherman, Texas.
