Crusaders edged by North Central College (IL) on Wednesday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team was defeated by North Central College (IL) on Wednesday to wrap up a five-game home stand, which the Crusaders dropped their last four on. Dallas held a Cardinals team that has accumulated their highest goal-count in the first quarter (25-of-64) to four and were only down 3-1 until the last 14 seconds of the opening stanza.

Jared Weaver led the Cardinals (6-0) with 11 points, and eight of them coming on assists. Noah Parrill was the leader in scoring with five, while Tommy Huizinga and Casimer Ploncyznski contributed four and three, respectively.

Huizinga, Parrill, and Weaver scored the first three goals through 9:42 to build a three-goal lead. Weaver was involved in all scoring players for NCC with a trio of helpers on the other scoring plays.

Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) broke the shutout with his 10th goal of the campaign about six minutes in. Joseph Kilmer (Rockville, Md.) looked solid in his debut, as the cross country dual sport athlete notched the team's second goal, had two shots on goal, and five ground balls to tie second on the team with Tucker Jameson (Mechanicsville, Md.).

After the Cardinals got on the board first in the second quarter on a Matt Sheinfeld goal by Weaver, the Crusaders came back on offense and Kilmer was able to poke a loose ball on the ground through to clear the crease.

North Central rattled home the next five goals that quarter to build a 10-2 halftime lead. This carried into the third with the next three goals.

11 minutes into the first period within the second half, Frederick scored his second goal to give him UD's lone multi-goal performer. Tyler Smith (Snoqualmie, Wash.) scored on an assist from Tucker, and then the duo flipped spots for Dallas' final goal of the game.

Dallas fired 22 shots with 15 on cage, and the Cardinals held the edge on ground balls by 20 (55-35). Frederick collected a team-high six ground balls, while Bogar Trout III (Tecumseh, Mich.) grabbed four, and then the aforementioned five between them.

As a team, UD won 11-of-29 face offs and were led by Joshua McClendon (Redondo Beach, Calif. With nine face off wins.

Hector Pinell-Sanchez (Manor, Texas) made 15 saves in 60 minutes of work.

His counterparts Dylan Cost and Zayne Hartz combined for 10 saves against 15 shots faced. North Central went 28-for-30 on successful clears.

Neither team was whistled for a penalty in this game.
