HOUSTON -- The Celts of the University of St. Thomas dealt with unaccomodating guests on Senior Night as the Southwestern Pirates claimed a 3-0 win Friday.

The teams were scoreless in the first half before Southwestern got on the board in the 48th minute with a goal from Alexis Guajardo. The Pirates then added insurance goals in the 75th and 77th minutes.

Southwestern (14-4) improved to 5-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with the victory. St. Thomas (4-8-1) fell to 1-5 in conference play.

Though the Celts were outshot 18-9, they were not without scoring chances in the match. Aeriana Lewis (SO/Houston, Texas) nearly opened the scoring with a shot from the top of the penalty area in the eighth minute.

In the 19th minute, Kennedy Sessions (SR/Spring, Texas) had a look at the goal well inside the penalty area, but her shot was wide to the near side of the goal.

The Celts play their final home match of 2019 on Sunday when they host Texas Lutheran. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Houston Sports Park.
