
The Pirates struggled to get going and lost 7-1 to the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys on Tuesday night.
The Cowboys scored first in the top of the 2nd inning and took the early 1-0 lead. The Pirates' lone run came in the bottom half, when Cruz Luna scored on a Tyler Herriage single up the middle to tie the game at 1-1.
Hardin-Simmons broke the tie in the top of the 3rd, scoring two runs to make it a 3-1 game. They added runs in the 6th, 8th, and 9th innings to solidify the game and earn the 7-1 victory.
Eric Zamora garnered his second win of the season for the Cowboys. Cruz Luna led the way for the Pirates by going 2-4 and scoring a run. The win improves Hardin-Simmons to 4-4, while Southwestern drops to 1-10 on the season.
The Southwestern Pirates go on the road for the first time this season and face the University of Dallas this Saturday, February 23rd at 12:00PM in Dallas, Texas.
