The Rhodes College baseball team defeated Hendrix College 5-4 in the first game of the SCAC tournament behind a 9 inning complete game by junior RHP Austin Carden.  Hendrix jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after 2 innings, but the Lynx were able to respond with a 5 run bottom of the 3rd, highlighted by 2 run homerun by sophomore SS Lynden Pindling.

In his 9 innings of work, Carden allowed 8 hits, 3 earned runs, no walks, and struck out 7.  Carden is now 4-6 on the year, with 2 complete games.

The Lynx offense was led by Pindling who was 1-4 with a homerun, 2 RBIs, and run scored.  Senior LF Matt Gilbert was 1-3 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walked once.  Junior CF Travis Perkins was 2-2 on the day and senior RF Andrew Meier was 1-4 with 2 RBIs, run scored and stole a base.

Rhodes will return to action tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 Oglethorpe University.
