
SHREVEPORT, La. – Southwestern extended its winning streak to 13 matches after earning a pair of wins on Saturday. The Pirates edged Belhaven, 5-4, and then rolled to a 9-0 victory over Ozarks.
Southwestern (18-4) held a 2-1 lead after doubles play against the Blazers.
Nicole Wilson put the Pirates up 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
After Belhaven earned wins at the top three singles spots, Emilie Moeller turned in a 6-0, 6-3 victory at the final position. Jessey Martinez then provided the clincher, as she collected a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at the fourth spot.
SU had less trouble in the nightcap, rolling to the sweep of the Eagles.
Taste Drews-Jones picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, while Anna Schneemann earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the second position.
Julie Swets logged a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Maranda Kahl did the same at the fifth position.
Meanwhile, Wilson tallied a straight-sets win at the fourth spot.
The Pirates will face Centenary at 11 a.m. Saturday to close out the regular season.
