Seeded first overall, Mitrofanova earned a first-round bye and defeated Cal Lutheran's Mina Ahmadi 6-0, 6-0 in the second round on Thursday. Mitrofanova followed that with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Chapman's Aliya Allyn in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Mitrofanova carried the momentum over into the semifinals, defeating Redland's Olivia Rockwood in three sets by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday.

Redland's Kendall Bolock advanced to the championship match from the other side of the bracket, defeating Southwestern's Lydia Lee  6-2, 6-3 in the second round. Lee previously defeated Cal Lutheran's Joslin Seaberg 6-1, 6-4 to open the tournament.

Mitrofanova avenged her teammate with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Bolock in the championship match.

"Nina played a solid tournament, beating some excellent players along the way to her singles championships," Southwestern head tennis coach Billy Porter says.

Mitrofanova and Lee finished second in the doubles tournament, losing 6-2, 6-2 to Cal Lutheran's Mari Bufkin and Brennan Foreman in the championship match.

The second-seeded duo earned a first-round bye and defeated Cal Lutheran's Heidi Levanen and Seaberg 6-3, 7-6 (6) in the second round on Friday. Mitrofanova and Lee followed that with a 7-5, 7-6 (1) win over Cal Lutheran's Luisa Garcia and Carolina Groff in Saturday's semifinals.

"Nina and Lydia didn't play well this tournament but found ways to win a couple, and there is something to be said for that," Porter says. "Congrats to Cal Lutheran, who was the better team today and deserved the win."

Mitrofanova and Lee will rejoin their teammates to compete in next weekend's SCAC Championship Tournament.
