Sophomore Kate Brush posted an individual victory and a pair of runner-up results Saturday, but the Colorado College women's swimming team fell to Division II Colorado School of Mines, 130-54, in Golden, Colo.
 
Brush captured the 100-yard butterfly race in a time of 59.84 seconds and placed second in the 500 freestyle event in 5:36.68. She also led off the 200 medley relay team that finished second.
 
Freshman Emma Phillips also produced a win Saturday, taking the 200 freestyle race in 2:01.01, more than three seconds faster than the runner-up. Phillips also anchored the second-place 400 freestyle relay team.
 
"It was great to have to step up against a really strong team today," head coach Anne Goodman James said. "We are in that pre-taper tired phase, which is a challenging time to race, but I'm happy with the way our team approached it. Emma Phillips gave us our first win of the day, taking the 200 freestyle. Kate Brush led off our medley relay with the fastest backstroke leg of the field, followed with a win in the 100 fly, and then, less than 10 minutes later finishing second in the 500. She showed her versatility and resilience today."
 
Freshmen Annie Bowens (50 freestyle, 200 medley relay) and Gina Lynch (200 IM and 400 freestyle relay) each collected a pair of second-place finishes at the meet.
 
The Tigers wrap up the shortened 2020-21 campaign at the SCAC Championship Meet on Feb. 11-13, in San Antonio, Texas.
