The Rhodes College baseball team defeated DII Christian Brothers University 5-4 this afternoon at Buc Field. Rhodes jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after 2, and stretched the lead 3-1 after 4. The Bucs tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 6th. Junior DH

Max Gertz picked up his first victory of the season and junior
Hunter Chandler collected his 5th save of the year, before the game was called in the bottom of the 7th due to darkness. Rhodes is now 21-9 on the season.
Rhodes threw 6 different pitchers in the designed pitcher by committee game for the Lynx pitching staff. Freshman
Tony Pikos started the game, throwing 1 inning, did not allow a runner to reach base and struck out one. Freshman
Jackson Baker threw the 2nd inning and allowed 2 hits, but did not allow a run. Junior
Taylor Babich worked the 3rd inning, allowing 1 hit, and struck out 1. Freshman
James Todd worked the 4th and 5th. allowing 2 hits, and 1 earned run. Senior
Max Gertz picked his first victory of the season to improve to 1-0 on the year. Gertz allowed 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 earned, and struck out 1 in the 6th. Junior
Hunter Chandler worked a perfect 7th getting 2 quick ground outs and finished off the game with a strikeout to preserve his 5th save of the year.

Rhodes will return to action this Saturday with a double header against Birmingham Southern College.
