The fourth-ranked Colorado College volleyball team completed its three-match trip to southern Texas with a 25-13, 25-16, 25-15 victory over Schreiner University on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers improved to 26-2 overall and 12-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with their 17th sweep of the season. CC holds a half-game lead over Trinity University heading into the final weekend of league play.
Senior middle hitter
Myca Steffey-Bean led the Colorado College attack with eight kills.
Sophomore opposite hitter
Laney Swan put down seven kills on 11 attacks without an error. She matched her season-best hitting percentage at .636.
Freshman outside hitter
Isabella Vasquez hit .500 with seven kills on 12 swings with just one error.
Junior libero
Anna Gurolnick produced a match-high 19 digs, while Steffey-Bean had a hand in five blocked shots.
As a team, CC hit .290 and held Schreiner to a -.051 team attack percentage, which marked the sixth time this season an opponent hit .000 or worse against the Tigers.
Colorado Scored the first seven points of the match and led 11-1 on Swan's first kill. The Tigers extended their lead to 16-4 on a kill by sophomore outside hitter
Allie Freeburg, and after the Mountaineers trimmed their deficit to seven points, CC closed out the set on an 8-3 run.
Schreiner scored the first point of the second set on an ace, only to see Colorado College eight in a row.
The Mountaineers scored three in a row to open the third set, only to see junior setter
Lizzy Counts serve five aces during a 7-0 run. Counts finished the match with seven aces, the most by a Tiger since Julia Lawton produced the same number on two occasions in 2014.
Schreiner was within four points when Alyx Kruse connected on one of her 10 kills, but CC answered with a 10-5 surge to take control of the set.
Giselle Flores led the Mountaineers with nine digs.
Colorado College plays its final home match against the Mississippi University for Women on Friday, Oct. 26, at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, the Tigers face the University of Dallas and Johnson & Wales University in its final SCAC matches at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, in Denver.
