Women's Soccer Edged by Southwestern

Women's Soccer went toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Friday night in Georgetown, Texas. After 90 hard-fought minutes, the Celts would fall to Southwestern, 2-1.

Coming off SCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, Briana Salinas would anchor the Celts defense in the first half, corralling five saves to keep the Pirates scoreless. However, only four minutes into the second half, Southwestern would get on the board first, taking a 1-0 advantage. 20 minutes later and the Pirates would yet again find the back of the net to extend their lead.

With their backs against the wall, the Celts would answer in the 74th minute with a Laura Saravia goal. Saravia's first collegiate goal would come off an assist from Rachel Bejarano.

As time expired, St. Thomas would pressure the Pirate defense but would never capitalize.

Women's Soccer returns to action on Sunday in Seguin, Texas as they take on Texas Lutheran.
