Murray's Eight Shutout Innings Sets Up McKee Walk Off

Baseball took game two off Belhaven under the lights at Reckling Park this Friday night. Despite eight scoreless innings of offense, the Celts came up victorious powered by Landon Murray's stellar pitching and a Dillon McKee walk-off home run.

It was a defensive duel from the first pitch as neither team allowed the other to score a run. St. Thomas had an opportunity to score in the second inning as Mason Seay was hit by pitch. However, two quick outs halted any Celt momentum. A similar situation happened in the third as Dylan Lamb looked to spark a rally with a steal, but he was caught running. The Celt bats were quiet until the seventh inning when Jeffrey Williams and Leo Galvan both got on base. Then the Belhaven defense tightened and recorded two quick outs to end the inning. After a scoreless top of the ninth, it looked like extra innings were on deck for the Celts. Two outs opened the home half of the ninth, then Belhaven walked two consecutive St. Thomas batters. Down to their last out, Dillon Mckee answered the call. McKee hit a three run shot to left field to secure St. Thomas' second walk off the season and 3-0 victory.

Landon Murray continued his hot streak notching the ninth win of his Celt Career. Murray went eight shutout innings allowing just three hits and two walks. He also struck out seven batters. Luke Sebesta came in relief of Murray and blanked Belhaven in the top of the ninth. Sebesta threw a quick 13 pitch inning allowing no hits.

Up next, baseball wraps up their series with Belhaven at Reckling Park! Come out to Rice University at 1pm for first pitch as the Celts go for their second sweep of the season.
