Huntingdon Tops Crusaders on Friday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team dropped a 19-7 result at Huntingdon College on Friday afternoon. The Crusaders improved their goal total by three in their second outing of the season, but could not halt a tough offense that posted a 65-19 edge on shots, 63-36 edge on ground balls, and only registered one unsuccessful clear.

The Hawks produced three goals in just over six minutes. Dallas got on the board seconds after the third goal for Huntingdon had been registered. Preston Thompson got the Crusaders in the goals' column on an assist from John Reynolds (Fallbrook, Calif.).

A late goal with 16 seconds by Austin Gibbons (St. Charles, Ill.) made it a four-goal game again, but Huntingdon answered back to make it a 7-2 deficit at the end of the first quarter.

The Hawks scored the next three goals, and Matt Senter increased his season total of goals to five, after a pair were credited in the match. Senter also picked up seven ground balls. Reynolds followed with six ground balls. Dallas trailed 10-4 at intermission and never came closer than six on the Dan McCrorey (Reno, Nev.) goal. The junior had a pair of goals, while Gibbons also tossed in two. Javier Valenzuela (Irving, Texas) dished the last Gibbons and UD goal to make it 18-7 with under five minutes to play.

Michael White (Colleyville, Texas) made 25 saves in the goal tonight. He has combined for 49 saves on the campaign.

Tyler Keiser and Ian Bruggeman were the top Huntingdon scorers with five goals apiece. Bruggeman added a pair of assists to give him seven points overall. Puckett led the team with three assists. Stephen Dan came up with five saves against 12 shots in 60 minutes.

Dallas is scheduled to head to Colorado College for its next competition on Mar. 28 at 12 p.m..
