'Roo Volleyball Falls to Dallas

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team took the first set but the University of Dallas won three in a row to hand the 'Roos a 3-1 defeat in the last regular season Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match of the year for both teams on Tuesday night. The 'Roos are now 15-19 overall and 9-9 in conference play.

In the first set the 'Roos found themselves trailing 17-16 before taking control and scoring eight straight points, ultimately winning 25-21 to go ahead early. However, after taking a 24-22 lead in set two the Crusaders fought back to hand the 'Roos a 27-25 loss to square things up. The two teams battled back and forth once again in the third set, with Dallas coming out on top 29-27, and after Austin College took a 19-16 lead in the fourth set the Crusaders scored seven of the next eight points and ended up securing the match with a 25-21 win.

Karson Dykes led Austin College with 15 kills while Caitlin Mahoney and Shelbi Cook added 13 apiece, and Brooklyn Talley had 31 assists for the 'Roos. Mari Prazak had a match-high 26 digs, while Hannah Arbaugh added 13 and Allison Pierce had 18 assists.
