The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team moved to 4-0 after downing SCAC opponent Southwestern University 163-80 on Saturday inside Schlessman Natatorium. The Tigers won 11 of 13 events.
"I was very impressed with our team's intensity throughout the weekend," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "We are training hard right through all these early meets, and are still able to perform with some crispness. I think these performances give us more confidence heading into our mid season invitational meet."
Collin Ralston led the way with three first-place finishes including a 54.91 finish in the 100-yard IM, a personal best for the Mercer Island native. Ralson also touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.70.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Ralston teamed up with
Caleb Peimann,
Eric Uerling and
Dax Sherwood for the top time of 1:37.42.
Edmund Davis won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.76. Davis has won both 500 free events he's swam in this season. He took first against Trinity in the first duel meet of the season. In the 400-yard medley relay, Davis combined with
Miles Nordling,
Tomas Gonzalez and
Jack Hussin to earn the victory with a top time of 3:15.69.
Hussin also won the 200-yard freestyle after finishing in 1:48.46. Davis came in second in the same event.
Freshman
Wyatt Wellehan had his best day of the season on the boards after picking up wins in both the one and three-meter events. In the one-meter, Wellehan racked up 338.40 which is 1.57 points of the pool record of 339.97 held by three time All-American Austin Howlett who set the record in 2014.
"Our divers were outstanding both days," James said. "It was so exciting to watch Wyatt as he is already closely approaching the school record held by All-American Austin Howlett."
Aidan Richter took second in both diving events after dishing out 284.15 points in the one-meter and 286.10 in the three-meter.
The Tigers will go up north to take on Division II Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 3 in Golden, CO.
