SHERMAN, Texas - The McMurry University swim teams returned to action in 2018 at the Austin College Invitational. The War Hawks women finished fourth and men sixth.
Senior
Robyn Remschel paced the women's squad, earning a pair of victories in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events. Remschel swam a 1:00.89 time in the 100 backstroke and 2:13.40 minutes in the 200 backstroke. She was also second in the 50-yard freestyle relay (26.34).
Remschel also handled the lead leg of McM's 400-yard freestyle relay team. The unit – also comprised of
Jessica Gryder,
Mariah Rhoades and
Zandria Rodriguez – placed third overall in a time of 4:00.22 minutes.
Rhoades picked up a fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.21) and a seventh in the 100 backstroke (1:10.21). Rodriguez was fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:09.66).
Katie Gorka earned third in the grueling 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 12:35.43 minutes, as well as finishing 10th in the 100 freestyle (1:05.15) and seventh in the 500 freestyle (6:20.34).
Monica Flores was fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:58.12).
Jerick Pena picked up McM's lone win in the men's standings in the 200 backstroke (2:03.33 minutes). Pena was also seventh in both the 100-individual medley (59.24) and 100 butterfly (56.50).
Freshman
Jeremiah Atkins earned a fifth place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:19.77).
The men's 400 freestyle relay quartet –

Zakai Love, Atkins and Pena – finished sixth overall.
