Box Score Colorado College erased an 18-point first half-deficit to take a four-point lead with 2:23 to play, but Texas Lutheran made the critical plays during the final seconds and escaped Reid Arena with a crucial 74-72 victory on Sunday.
Thirteen seconds after senior guard
Eric Houska gave the Tigers a 70-66 lead, junior guard Nathan Josephs hit a three-pointer to pull the Bulldogs to within a point.
Still trailing by one with less than 10 seconds to play, freshman guard Sebastian Andrade hit a pull-up jumper from just above the foul line to give TLU a 73-72 lead.
After grabbing an errant inbounds pass, Josephs hit one of two free throws. CC had one last chance claim the victory, but a desperation 60-foot heave by sophomore forward CooXooEii was off the mark.
Houska scored a team-high 20 points for Colorado College, which slipped to 7-11 overall and 2-5 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Black finished with 18 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Senior forward
Chris Martin also scored 18 points for the Tigers, connecting on seven of eight shots from the floor.
Colorado College led 10-9 after Houska sank a pair of free throws 5:43 into the contest, but the Tigers scored just 11 points during the next 11 minutes and trailed 39-21 after TLU junior guard Jackson Willoughby scored with 4:21 remaining in the half.
CC utilized a 15-4 run to get back in the game and closed to within seven points when Houska buried a three-pointer with four seconds to go before the break.
With that basket, Houska became the 10th player in program history to record 150 or more career three-pointers.
The Tigers took their first lead since early in the first half when Black hit a pair of free throws with 7:11 to play, putting Colorado College up 59-58.
The Bulldogs scored 33 points from behind the arc, including 24 in the first half. Meanwhile, CC was just 3-for-8 from behind the arc.
Andrade finished with 20 points for Texas Lutheran, which improved to 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
Josephs added 13 points for TLU, while junior guard Alex Cage and junior forward Shawn Hamilton scored 12 points apiece.
Colorado College plays the first of four consecutive SCAC road games on Friday, Jan. 26 at Southwestern University.
