SEGUIN, Texas - The Southwestern baseball team split a doubleheader against Texas Lutheran Saturday at Katt-Isbel Field to close out the regular season. The Pirates, who also clinched the series, won the opener 11-8, while the Bulldogs rallied for a 7-6 win in 10 innings to finish off the set.

Jacob Kendra (2-2) earned the win in relief, pitching 3.1 innings out of the bullpen.

In the nightcap, the Pirates trailed 4-2 before scoring twice in the sixth to pull even. However, Texas Lutheran added another tally in the bottom of the frame to reclaim the advantage.

Colby Schmidt led off the ninth with a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Ethan Widoff, which tied the game.

Southwestern took a 6-5 lead in the 10th, as Thomas O'Brien tallied a run-scoring single.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the inning and an error allowed two runs to cross the plate, including the game-winner.

Stephen Greenlees (0-3) took the loss after yielding three unearned runs on one hit over five panels out of the bullpen.

The Pirates will begin preparing for the SCAC Championships, which will take place April 28-30 at the AirHogs Stadium in Grand Prairie. Southwestern clinched the No. 4 seed and will face top-seeded Centenary in the opening round of the double-elimination tournament.
