GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southwestern men's tennis team blanked a pair of opponents Saturday at the Marvin D. Henderson Sr. Tennis Courts. The Pirates started the day with a 9-0 win over Sul Ross State and then defeated East Texas Baptist by the same score a few hours later.
The Pirates (5-2) won all 12 singles matchups in straight sets.
Nickoloz Snovely was impressive in both of his tilts at the top spot. He logged a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sul Ross State's Todd Barajas to begin the day. Snovely also netted a 6-3, 6-4 victory against East Texas Baptist's Tyler Tolopka.
Snovely combined with Grant Gideon for a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles.
Additionally, Gideon, Nick Farmen, Alonso Fernandez and Haluki Nakayama all logged two singles wins on the day.
Southwestern will continue its home stand on Saturday, March 5, as the squad hosts both Hardin-Simmons (1:30 p.m.) and Trinity (6 p.m.).
