Tigers Rally In Second Half to Defeat Pacific

The Colorado College women's basketball team outscored Pacific University by 15 points in the second half and rallied for a 72-66 victory in the 2019 Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Classic on Friday afternoon at Reid Arena.

The Boxers drained five of their first six shots from behind the arc while building an 11-point first-quarter lead. From that point on, however, Pacific went just 1-for-26 from long range and the Tigers clawed their way back into the game.

Jordan Meltzer scored 10 of her 17 points during the third quarter when Colorado College erased a 35-26 halftime deficit to draw even at 48-48.

Izzy Hensley hit a jumper from the left baseline 48 seconds into the fourth quarter to put the Tigers ahead, then Rosie Braley drained a triple from the right wing to give CC a 53-48 lead with 7:22 to play.

After Pacific cut its deficit to one, Tedy Reed dialed long distance from the left corner to put the Tigers up 56-52, then she sank a pair of free throws to extend the cushion to six points with 3:06 to go.

A layup by McKenzee Gertz as the shot clock expired put Colorado College ahead 60-54 with 2:05 remaining, then Meltzer's steal and layup extended the lead to seven with 34.8 left on the clock.

The Tigers closed out their third consecutive victory by making 10 of 14 free throws during the final 93 seconds.

Gertz, who connected on eight of 10 shots from the floor and all six of her free throws, finished with a game-high 23 points.
