CONWAY, Ark. - At the 55th annual Hendrix Relays, the McMurry University women's swim team earned a second place finish, while the men's squad picked up a third. The War Hawks won a total of four races on the women's side and four on the men's.
McM won races in the 300-yard backstroke relay. The women's quartet of
Robyn Remschel,
Monica Flores and Mariah Rhoades posted a time of 3:18.64. The men's trio –
Jerick Pena, Brayden Miller and
Zakai Love – touched at 3:01.94 in their event.
In the women's 800-yard freestyle relay, the quartet of
Katie Gorka,
Kaylee Cook, Flores and Jessica Gryder swam a 9:03.31 to take the gold. In the 400 freestyle relay, Rhoades, Gorka, Cook and Remschel won in a time of 3:59.60 minutes.
The women's 400 medley relay had a time of 4:32.63, as the fourth winner for the War Hawks' ladies. The team was comprised of Remschel, Cook, Flores and Rhoades.
Besides the 300 backstroke relay, McM's men put up a winning entry in the 500-yard freestyle relay. Love, Pena,
Austin Gombas and Miller made up the quartet.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Love, Matthew Vess, Gombas and Pena teamed up to take top honors. The group touched in a time of 1:37.04 minutes.
McMurry's teams also had a pair of runner-up finishes in the women's 200 free relay (1:56.70) and the men's 1500 free relay (17:25.48).
