Senior
Leah Wessler and sophomore
Allysa Warling led the Colorado College women's cross country team to an impressive second-place finish in the collegiate division at the Woody Greeno Invitational Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.
Each of CC's top five runners posted a season-best time for the 6K course. The Tigers finished behind Iowa Central Community College among the non-Division I schools. With 154 points, CC beat Division I and II teams from Nebraska-Omaha and Nebraska-Kearney.
Wessler paced the team for the third consecutive race by finishing 14
th with a time of 22 minutes, 55.1 seconds. Warling, meanwhile, finished 23
rd with a time of 23:16.3, more than one minute faster than her time at last week's CC Invitational.
Freshman
Jerrica Bauer continued her outstanding first season with a 35
th-place result in a career-best time of 23:42.3, while seniors
Stefani Messick and
Katie Sandfort rounded out the scoring for the Tigers by finishing 43
rd and 52
nd, respectively.
"This was our highest finish ever at this meet," head coach
Ted Castaneda said. "We were aiming to finish in the top 9 and pulled out second place. What a great run by our entire team."
The Tigers are idle until running at the Metro State Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 1 in Denver, Colo.
