SAN ANTONIO - The Tiger Men's Cross Country Team places third and the women place second among tough competition at Our Lady of the Lake University on Saturday morning at the Windcrest Golf Course.
The Tiger men finished behind Texas A&M International and host school Our Lady of the Lake, while the Women finished only behind Our Lady of the Lake. The Tigers defeated schools such as Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas Lutheran.
Thomas Melina-Raab (Austin, Texas / McCallum) would finish first for the Tigers with a time of 26:12.2, good enough for 7th place individually. The next Tiger to finish would be
Joseph Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) with a time of 26:43.9 and 14th place overall. The next three Tigers would all finish right behind each other as
Luke Whitfill (Overland Park, Kansas / The Barstow School) would finish with a time of 27:04.7,
JT Ahmann (Austin, Texas / McNeil) with a time of 27:14.4, and
Marco Jonsson (Sugar Land, Texas / Dulles) with a time of 27:15.7. The Tigers would be ten runners in the top 35 of this meet.
For the women,
Sophia Munoz (Austin, Texas / Austin) would cross the finish line first with a time of 23:44.6 and 5th place overall. Next, the Tiger duo of
Emma Elsbury (Cypress, Texas / Cypress Ranch) and
Elizabeth Thompson (Dallas, Texas / The Cambridge School) would finish in 11th and 12th with times of 24:05.7 and 24:11.6, respectively.
Elizabeth McLauchlin (Bellaire, Texas / Episcopal) would see the finish line next at 24:41.3. Finally,
Kat Elizondo (San Antonio, Texas / Jefferson) would round out the Tiger five with a time of 25:39.5. The Tigers would finish with a total time of 2:02:22, just a little over five minutes more than the leader.

The Tigers will take a long trip to Illinois to compete in the Augustana Invitational hosted by Augustana College on Saturday, October 14.
