Tigers Cruise Past Dallas, 78-49

Colorado College rebounded from Friday's setback against first-place Austin College with a dominating 78-49 victory over the University of Dallas on Saturday night at Reid Arena.

Junior forward McKenzee Gertz led the Tigers with 18 points and dished out a season-high five assists, while first-year forward Tedy Reed came off the bench to record season highs of 17 points and seven rebounds.
  
Jordan Meltzer added 15 points, reaching double digit for the fourth game in a row and the eighth time this season. The senior guard also grabbed six rebounds.

Colorado College scored the first 10 points, and after the Crusaders closed to within 12-10, the Tigers scored nine in a row to build a 21-10 lead after one quarter.

UD trailed by only seven points after Madi Horne hit a jumper with 3:35 to play in the second quarter, but Colorado College scored the final six points of the first half to open a 33-20 lead after 20 minutes.

Colorado College put the game out of reach with a 23-6 surge during the final 6:17 of the third quarter when the Tigers opened a 62-36 cushion.

CC stretched its lead to 29 during the opening minute of the fourth quarter and never saw its advantage dip below 24 the rest of the way.

The teams play for the second time on Saturday, Feb. 1, in Irving, Texas.

Anna Fanelli tied her season high with nine assists.
Rosie Braley scored eight points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots.
Talia Cloud finished with eight points and five rebounds.
Abby Walz added eight points and a pair of steals.
 
University of Dallas Standouts
Madi Horne scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Gracie Williams finished with 15 points and five rebounds.
 
Game Notes
Colorado College improved to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the SCAC.
UD dropped to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The Tigers' bench outscored the Crusaders 29-5.
CC also had a 36-10 advantage in points in the paint.
