Celts Win Senior Night Against the Rams

Celts Win Senior Night Against the Rams

On the senior night for Volleyball, the Celts did nothing but impress as they took down the Huston Tillotson Rams in straight sets. At the conclusion of the match, the Celt seniors: Alaina Lanik, Alyssa Ajlouny, Caelie Jebson, Trinity Atkins, and Paige Havel were honored.

In set one, St. Thomas opened the match on a 3-0 run, before Huston Tillotson could make it as close as 3-2. From there, the Celts pulled away scoring eight points in a row to make the score 11-3. At that point, it was all St. Thomas as senior Trinity Atkins got the kill to win 25-13. In set two, Huston Tillotson put St. Thomas in a hole early taking a 7-4 lead. Yet this was not enough as Paige Havel and the Celts responded with an ace to take the lead 10-9. St. Thomas never looked back a won 25-13 with a kill from Alaina Lanik. In the third and final set, both the Rams and Celts traded points early, however midway through the Celts started to pull away. A 3-0 run gave St. Thomas the cushion they needed to win 25-14.

In the last volleyball game in Jerabeck this season, the Celts did nothing but shine. Offensively, Paige Havel led with 11 kills, and Emerson Sykes dished out 18 assists. Alyssa Ajlouny also tacked on 6 kills and an impressive .667 hitting percentage. Defensively, Kara Spice had 20 digs.

We congratulate our Celt seniors on a fantastic career at St. Thomas. Although the home season finished with a win at the JAAC, volleyball is back in action for conference play this weekend against Trinity, Colorado College, and Schreiner.
