Elliot Singer led the Colorado College women's cross country team to an impressive second-place finish against Division I and II teams at the Metro State Invitational Saturday morning in Denver, Colo.
CC, the only Division III team at the meet, finished just 14 points behind first-place Colorado Mines and 22 ahead of third-place Air Force, followed by UCCS and Metro State tying for fourth with 92 points, Colorado Christian (129), Westminster University (181) and Colorado Mountain College (237).
Lott finished in fourth place, covering the 6K course in a time of 22 minutes, 44.40 seconds, just ahead of Singer in fifth at 22:44.43. Junior
Sydney Rankin (23:27.06) and sophomore
Alison Mueller-Hickler (23:32.52) placed 18
th and 19
th, respectively.
Freshman
Mary Cate Kiser closed out the Tigers' scoring with a 28
th-place result, clocking in with a time of 24:03.33.
"Today was a very good preview of things to come for our team," head coach
Alex Nichols said. "They worked well as a team to move up during the race, and sowed that we are way ahead of last year's team."
The Tigers return to action at their own Ted Castaneda Classic on Saturday, Sept. 30 at North Monument Valley Park, beginning at 11 a.m.
