    Men’s swimming falls to Austin College in home dual

    ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry University men's swimming team was unable to pick up its first dual win of the season, falling to Austin College by a final of 147-62 inside the Phillips Family Center on Friday evening.

    Despite the loss, the War Hawks looked strong early on by winning the first individual event of the men's dual. Senior Dany Baki coasted his way to first place in the men's 1000-yard freestyle, separating himself from the four-man field to win with a time of 11:19.45.

    Baki also finished second in the 500-yard free at 5:32.89.

    Also picking up a win for McMurry was sophomore Joshua Calderon, taking the 100-yard backstroke in an exciting finish that saw first and second place separated by 0.06 seconds. Calderon's winning time was 1:02.19.

    Freshman Terrin Boehmer was slightly edged in a photo finish, placing second in the men's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.83. The winning time was 22.71. Boehmer also impressed in the 100-yard fly with a second place time of 56.50.

    Sophomore Alec Satre also had a tight battle, but was outlasted for second place in the 100-yard freestyle by less than two seconds. His final time was 51.82.

    Opening up the meet in the men's 200-yard medley relay, McMurry's team was five seconds off the top spot. Calderon, Boehmer, Satre and Cole Ellis.

    With two duals out of the way, McMurry will now turn its attention to its final home event of 2019. Next Saturday, Oct. 25, the War Hawks will hold its annual Alumni Swim Meet which is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.

    Following next Saturday's homecoming, McMurry hits the road for the first time this season at the Hendrix Relay and the Hendrix Classic on Nov. 1-2 in Conway, Arkansas.
