The Colorado College men's swimming and diving team earned seven first-place finishes and defeated SCAC foe Trinity University, 124-119, Friday afternoon at Schlessman Natatorium.
Aidan Richter and
Wyatt Wellehan went 1-2 in both diving events. Richter started off the day racking up a score of 290.73 in the three-meter and followed it up with a 290.03 score in the one-meter event.
Edmund Davis was a distance machine, winning the 1,000-yard (10:19.24) and 500-yard (4:57.80) freestyle events. Davis won the 500-yard and 1650-yard freestyle in last year's SCAC Championship. The Bellevue, Wash., native was the only CC swimmer to win multiple swimming events on Friday.
Jack Hussin touched first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.71. Hussin also went second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.52).
Caleb Peimann (54.74),
Dax Sherwood (56.57) and
Ely Dickson (56.62) swept first, second and third in the 100-yard backstroke.
CC went 1-2 in the 100-yard butterfly, with
Tomas Gonzalez (53.45) and
Eric Uerling (53.79) leading the charge. Gonzalez and Uerling joined Peimann and
Collin Ralston for a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
In the 200-yard IM, Ralston helped collect some valuable points with a second-place finish (2:02.29).
"There's always that uncertainty going into the first meet, but I always say uncertainty just means there's a chance that it will be great, and it was," head coach
Anne Goodman James said. "I am so happy with how well we competed."
CC and Trinity will face off again at Schlessman Natatorium on Saturday, beginning at 11 am.
