Women's Soccer Sweeps Win Over Johnson & Wales

DENVER, Colo. – Southwestern University's women's soccer achieved their second-highest scoring game of the season by winning 4-1 over the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats.

Juliet Pridgen, who took control of the game from the start, scored two of the first goals in the game. She was assisted by Maya Fuller and Alexis Guajardo. It was a battle at the beginning of the game with JWU's goalie Katelyn Peters, who had four huge saves in the first 30 minutes of the game. With the two goals scored by Pridgen in the first half, the Pirates had a strong lead before halftime.

Starting the second half the Pirates came back into the game aggressive on the offense and within the first three minutes, Alexis Guajardo knocked a header into the back of the Wildcat net. After Guajardo scored,  Karlee Holmes almost immediately scored a header off a corner kick from Juliana Chapa. JWU's Kayta Arbuthnot scored a goal for the Wildcats, however, with the Pirate's early lead the game ended 4-1, giving the Pirates their second Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win. They moved to improve to 10-3 in the season.

Up next, the Pirates play back on their home turf at Varsity Field against the Trinity University Tigers on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.
