Gents Fall At Ozarks In Season Opener
The Centenary men’s soccer team opened its season with an 8-0 loss to the University of the Ozarks Eagles in a non-conference contest at Hurie Soccer Field.

Clarksville, Ark. – The Centenary men's soccer team opened its season with an 8-0 loss to the University of the Ozarks Eagles in a non-conference contest at Hurie Soccer Field.
The Gents (0-1) fell behind 5-0 at halftime and allowed three second-half goals to the Eagles (1-0) to fall in its season opener. The Eagles finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots and was led by Erick Garcia's two goals.
Rasto Rimbo added an unassisted goal, Bailey Sawyer scored off an assist from Kyle Seymour, Armani Obasi found the net for an unassisted goal, Chris Rodriguez scored with an assist from Obasi, Jorensky Augustin scored the Eagles' sixth goal with an assist from Seymour, and Seymour scored an unassisted goal in the first half.
The Eagles' Victor Escobedo was ejected after receiving a pair of yellow cards, his teammate Caleb Sligh picked up one, and two Gents received cards. Ozarks was whistled for eight fouls to seven for Centenary and the Gents finished with a 5-1 edge in corner kicks but could not get on the scoreboard.
Each team played a pair of goalies as junior Sam Brocato (Leesville, La.) started and allowed seven goals in his 49:18. Junior Casey Clemo (Forney, Texas) relieved him and allowed one goal in 40:42 of action. Caleb Anderson started in goal for the Eagles and played 77:56 with one save. Maksyn Maliutenko came in and played 12:04 and also made one save.
The Gents look to regroup quickly as they will face McMurry University on Sunday afternoon in their home opener set for 2 p.m. at Mayo Field.
