Men's Hoops Falls to Trinity

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team fell 83-64 to No. 12-ranked Trinity University on Friday evening, as the 'Roos found themselves in a 17 point hole at halftime and were unable to recover. The 'Roos are now 8-11 on the year.

It was a close game early, with the 'Roos and Tigers square at 8-8 just under five minutes in and Austin College trailing 12-10 with 13:54 left in the opening half. Trinity took a 23-15 lead ith 7:02 before Price Bradley scored to make it 23-17, but the Tigers outscored the 'Roos 18-7 over the final seven minutes of the opening frame to head into the locker room leading 41-24. Austin College began to chip away at the Trinity lead in the second half, cutting it all the way down to 52-42 on a dunk by Tristan Dick with 13 minutes left to play, but Jacob Harvey knocked down a trey and Zach Fenn got a steal and scored on the break to push it to 57-42 with 12:21 remaining.

Dick scored to pull the 'Roos to within 11 points at 57-46 at the 10:59 mark, but that's as close as things would get the rest of the way as the Tigers extended the margin to as much as 26, taking an 83-57 lead with two minutes to play before Austin College scored the last seven points of the game. Dick had 15 points, four rebounds, and three blocks to pace the 'Roos, while Kidus Getenet added 14 points and Ethan Pearce posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while adding five assists and three blocked shots. Harvey had 24 points, knocking down 5-of-12 from long range, and Christian Green had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers.

Austin College will look to bounce back on Saturday, as they play host to the Schreiner University Mountaineers at 4:00 p.m. in another home SCAC contest.
