Houston — The No. 23-ranked Southwestern women's soccer team defeated the University of St. Thomas Celts 2-1, sweeping the weekend's conference games.

Abrianna Morales put the Pirates on the board less than 10 minutes into the game, scoring an unassisted goal for her third score of the season. Near the end of the first half, Jenny Pham scored off a feed from Meredith Lannan at the 38:18 mark to give Southwestern a 2-0 lead.

Both teams generated 11 shots, though Southwestern created better opportunities, putting six on goal while Pirate goalkeeper Johnna Campbell only faced one attempt on a goal scored by Brooke Le off a pass from Kayla Tomlinson.

Southwestern continues on its best start in program history, improving to 12-1 with the win, including 4-0 in conference play. The Pirates will return home to host a pair of games next weekend. Southwestern will face Austin College on Friday at 5:00 p.m., and Dallas on Sunday at noon.
