Shreveport– The Centenary volleyball team lost its final two matches of the weekend on Sunday, both Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests to Schreiner, 3-2, and Austin College, 3-1, on the last day of the SCAC crossover event hosted by the Ladies in the Gold Dome.

The Ladies (6-10, 0-4 SCAC) dropped a pair on Saturday to Colorado College by a score of 3-1 and 3-0 to Trinity. Schreiner improved to 6-7, 2-1 SCAC while Austin College is now 9-7 overall and 3-1 in SCAC play.

The Ladies opened with a 25-23 win in set one and then the Mountaineers evened the match with a 25-22 victory in the second set. Centenary took set three in convincing fashion, 25-16, and appeared poised to win the match but Schreiner rebounded with a 25-21 win in set four and then clinched the match with a 15-10 margin in set five.

Centenary hit .105 % for the match while Schreiner finished at .078. The Ladies tallied 108 digs, 55 kills, 51 assists, and six service aces. The 108 digs are a season high and tied for the sixth-most in a single match in the division III (2011-present) era. Schreiner had 114 digs, 52 kills, 48 assists, and six aces.

Senior DS/L Jaycie Proctor (Paris, Texas) posted a single-match, career-high 35 digs which is the second-most in a single match in the D3 era. Proctor's previous record for a single match was 31 in the season opener against Howard Payne back on Sept. 2. She added an assist and a pair of aces after tallying 32 digs in Saturday's two matches. Senior S/RS Rachel Demerjian (Glendora, Calif.) posted season-bests in assists (45) and digs (21) and had one ace.

Sophomore RS Jaylin St. Martin (New Orleans, La.) had a solid match with 12 kills and nine digs, good for 13.5 points and senior MB Liz Lowe (San Antonio, Texas) continued her impressive play with 11 kills, nine digs, and an ace to finish with 12.5 points. Sophomore OH/DS Kiara Liedy (Sugar Land, Texas) posted 15 digs and freshman MB Susi Curtis (Haslet, Texas) added seven. Freshman MB/OH Jordan Wheeler (Baton Rouge, La.) finished with six kills and a pair of digs and junior MB/OH Robin Lemelle (Liberty, Texas) had seven digs and six kills. Sophomore RS Aubrey Salazar (San Antonio, Texas) recorded a career-high 13 kills for a team-high 14 points.

Match Two Recap: Austin College 3 Centenary 1

The 'Roos took set one, 25-21, and won set two by a 25-19 margin and it appeared the Ladies might suffer a sweep, but they claimed a hard-fought 25-22 win in set three before Austin pulled away for a 25-13 victory in the fourth set to clinch the match.

The Ladies hit .138 for the match highlighted by a .256 clip in set two. The 'Roos finished at .206. Centenary totaled 84 digs, 42 kills, 41 assists, and a pair of aces. Austin College recorded 87 digs, 63 kills, 61 assists, and eight aces.

Proctor led the way in digs (23), Lowe (15) in kills, and freshman S Meadow Smith (Mansfield, Texas) had 26 assists to go with 11 digs and a kill. Proctor had four assists and one kill and Lowe added nine digs en route to a team-high 19 points. St. Martin finished with 10 digs, nine kills, an assist, and an ace, and Lemelle tallied eight digs and four kills. Senior DS Mariah Martinez (San Antonio, Texas) had 10 assists and seven digs while Salazar chipped in three kills and a dig.

The Ladies will take a break from conference play on Tuesday as they face the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats in a contest set for 6 p.m. in Pineville, La.
