Baseball Takes Two Off Dallas to Open SCAC Series

Baseball Takes Two Off Dallas to Open SCAC Series

Baseball resumed SCAC play against the University of Dallas this Friday afternoon. After two hard-fought games, the Celts earned two victories scoring a total of 21 runs.

Game One: UST 8 UD 4

Both teams were unable to generate a run early, as both starting pitchers had great outings to begin the game. However, St. Thomas found themselves down first as Dallas scored in the fourth inning to make the score 1-0. With the Celts down, they needed a spark to keep themselves in the game, as in the fifth inning Jason Brown answered the call. Brown hit a ball down the left field line to score two, as St. Thomas took a 2-1 lead. From there, Dallas added three runs of their own and shut out the Celts for two innings. However at that point in the game, Dylan Lamb took over. Lamb created a string of hits, leading to four RBI, as him and Kyle Bearden drove in six runs total to secure the 8-4 victory.

On the mound, Chris Parsons got the game going with five innings of quality baseball, allowing just three runs against nine strikeouts. Connor Barlett came in relief and got the win, and Luke Johnson and Brady Watson threw the last two innings to finish the game.

Game Two: UST 13 UD 3

After getting on the board first, St. Thomas' lead was shortlived as Dallas would score three runs by the second inning. However, that would be all they would get as the Celts' bats broke out. From the fifth inning onwards, 12 St. Thomas hits generated 12 Celt runs as a hit parade was highlighted by two homers. Dillon McKee went yard with a solo shot in the sixth inning and right behind him Leo Galvan homered in the seventh for the first time this year as the Celts secured the game-two victory 13-3 after eight innings of action.

Landon Murray got the start for St. Thomas going 6.1 innings and allowing 0 earned runs as Dallas capitalized on just Celt errors. Luke Sebesta and Brady Watson came in relief of the starter to pitch shutout baseball to secure the win.

Up next, the final game of the Dallas series is on deck. Come out to Constellation Field on April 15th at 11 am first pitch to support your Celts!
