Softball dominated Dallas in their SCAC doubleheader this Saturday afternoon. After two games of action, the Celts scored a whopping 27 runs in two games.

Game One: UST 12 UD 0

From the first pitch, it seemed like Dallas would be chasing the Celts the entire game. Leadoff hitter Rebecca Archibald reached on an error by the Dallas defense, then came all the way home as she showcased her speed. The inning was not over though, as St. Thomas added two more runs to make the score 3-0 after the first inning of play. After being shutout in the second inning, the scoring barrage continued in the third as three straight hits led to three more runs as the score now read 6-0. From that inning onwards, the Celts only added to their lead as Mallarie Munson recorded another home run highlighting the 12-0 game-one victory. 

Bailey Tisdale got the start in the circle and limited Dallas to just two hits in five innings of play. Tisdale and her defense limited the Crusaders to no runs as they never threatened to score. 

Game Two: UST 15 UD 3

It was a similar story to game one except the Crusaders struck first making the score 2-0 early. However, St. Thomas followed up with five unanswered to take the lead back. 15 total hits in the game led to 15 total runs as seven different Celts recorded at least one hit in the game. Chloe Bennett led St. Thomas with five RBI, then not far behind Hailey Jackson and Grace Torres had three RBI apiece. When the dust settled, St. Thomas secured the game 15-3 after just five innings of play. 

Allison Hughes got the start in the circle and notched her 11th win of the year going four innings and notching five strikeouts. Lauren Trott came in relief to finish the job and threw a spectacular no-hit fifth inning.
